Urban Meyer Resigns!?!?!.....But Then Decides to Stay

OH EM GEE on Saturday, December 26, Urban Meyer, head Florida Football Coach, announced that he is resigning after coaching for five years at UF. Meyer has bad brain cysts for years as well as chest pains. Meyer was admitted to the hospital after the SEC Championship game due to chest pains. Meyer states, "I have ignored my health for years, but recent developments have forced me to reevaluate my priorities of faith and family."

Meyer has a 56-10 record at UF, and has led the Florida Gators to 3 SEC Championship games with 2 SEC Championship titles, 2 BCS Championship titles, and Florida's first 12-0 perfect regular season. Meyer and the Gators had a 22-game winning streak prior to losing to Alabama earlier this month at the SEC Championship. Meyer will coach his final game on January 1, 2010 at the Sugar Bowl when Florida takes on Cincinnati.
The news of Meyer's resignation has taken the Gator Nation by surprise. We all love Urban and our Gators! These past five years with Urban have been great, and we are all glad that he has decided to stay in Gainesville. The personal relationship that he has with his players really helps to motivate them, I think. Although Florida football normally comes first, I really do hope that Urban Meyer recieves the medical help that he needs and gets well soon. For years Florida has reigned over the SEC and dominated many teams, but without Meyer, Tebow, Spikes, and many other Florida football players could this really be THE FALL OF THE GATOR NATION??
BUT WAIT!!!
On Sunday, December 27, Urban has decided not to resign!!! Instead, he has opted to take an indefinite leave of absence. He will coach the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day, and then take some time off until the 2010 football season. Steve Addazio, offense coordinator, will become the interim coach. Meyer changed his mind Sunday morning after a great practice, and he is looking forward to being on the sidelines next season.
